I'm one of those strange people that absolutely LOVED high school. I had ah-mazing friends, and had a great environment to experience those awkward years! So of course I'm linking up with Becky for the Show and Tell link up!
1. Tell us what kind of student you were in high school {popular, nerd, sport obsessed, choir, etc}
I was a nice girl in high school. I went to a very small school so there weren't really enough of us to have tiers of popularity. There were the girls who hung out with older guys and partied all the time, but they weren't really popular, since they were the only ones who liked each other. My friends and I were just concerned with having fun! We were friends with everyone and just did our thing. We were all involved in dance though, and a few of us were on the cheer-leading squad.
{ Dance show our senior year. I was the soloist...I didn't just forget my shirt :) }
For the most part at my school everyone had their group of friends and all got along well. I know I'm definitely lucky for going to that type of school. I had the greatest friends in high school and we're still best friends 5 years after graduation!
2. Share with us some high school pictures. We know you have them somewhere.
3. Tell us about your school. Private? Public? How many in graduating class? Mascots? School colors?
I went to a private prep school in New York. There were only 74 people in my graduating class! It was Pre-k through 12 and I believe there were 500ish students total. I went to public school until 7th grade, but my older brother was having a lot of trouble with bullying so my parents transferred him to private school, and I got to go too! At that age the only thing I cared about was that there was a salad bar and I got out a month earlier for summer. Now, I can't imagine what life would be life if I didn't go there! It truly made me the person I am today.
However, our mascot was the Trojans, which was pretty hilarious for middle/high schoolers. ;) Our colors were red and white. We didn't have a football team though...I'm still traumatized. We did have an incredible soccer team that won states pretty much every year!
4. Tell us about some of your favorite memories of high school. Or what stands out the most? Any teachers? Specific classes?
Oh my gosh so many teachers, but I feel like you have to know them to appreciate them. One major thing I noticed about my school was how close everyone was with teachers. Our Spanish teachers always gave opinions on your boyfriend! They were so hilarious. My AP Spanish class only had 4 girls, so we would just gossip in Spanish the whole time. And if you had a bad break up? You go straight to Senora Cruz! I loved them so much. My friends and I always became friends with the nurse! It sounds random but one of our best friends has diabetes so she'd have to get her insulin injection everyday after lunch, so we would all go to the nurse after lunch every single day. After 4 years you get pretty close!
My favorite memories all revolve around those special teachers or dance class. Yes, we got to take dance instead of gym! I have always danced and we always had so much fun in that class!
5. Tell us a piece of advice you would pass on to your children or any child entering high school.
Don't sweat the small stuff! I know it's so much easier said than done, but just surround yourself with good people and you will be fine. Life is so much bigger than high school and there is so much more to life than dating the quarterback. Stay focused, and have fun! You're only young once. :)
Haha, I definitely did not like high school, but NY graduating class was like 800...it sounds so neat being at a small school!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous! Private Prep School in NY just sounds like the coolest thing ever. Very "Cruel Intention" like! haha... Enjoyed reading!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had so much fun in high school. I wish I would've gone to a smaller school. I wasn't a big fan of my hs.
ReplyDeleteI lovedddd high school too! I had a lot of good friends and really just loved it :)

ReplyDeleteDon't worry, since I went to an all-girls school, we didn't have a football team either!

I did a post like this, sort of, I did "When I was 17"...and talked about my high school years. I was only of those people who LOVED High school as well. It had it moments of "oh my gosh is this over year?" but for the most part I was in Love with High School. I grew up a lot during those 4 years..I would like to think they had alot to do with who I am and where I am today! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for Sharing..
