*My first car (I actually got it when I was 18, but that's okay) was a BRIGHT teal '97 Chevy Cavalier. It had crank windows and manual locks. It didn't have seat adjustments so I had to sit on a lumbar support cushion to see over the steering wheel. The most embarrassing part? I had it until 3 months ago! :)
* I worked at a hospital as a secretary/office aid on the weekends and then during the summer after graduation. When I was 17 I was still very serious about ballet, so I had no free time during the week!
*On weekend mornings I would be at ballet, and then any other time I would be with my friends. We had sleepovers and went to movies, the usual 17 year old things! We definitely were not into the party scene back then.
2. Show us a picture of you when you were 17 {roughly}.
3. When you were 17, tell us what you wanted to be when you "grew up."
Marine Biologist! A part of me will always want to be a marine biologist, but I'm afraid of physics and calculus.
4. When you were 17, tell us the kind of boys that you dated. Did you have a type? Do you have a relationship you remember well? Tell us about it.
Ahhh I could write a book on the kind of boys I dated at 17! Well actually, there were only 2, my best guy friend and The Player. Through HS I kept going back to The Player, and finally he graduated. Then, my best friend told me he had feelings for me, I didn't feel the same, then a year later he started to move on and obviously that's when I realized I wanted to be with him too. We fell hard and later it crashed and burned hard. Dating your best friend makes the relationship that much better, and the breakup that much worse! It was a good first relationship though, I learned a lot about myself, and what I need/want from a partner. It set me up for the wonderful place I'm in now!
Can you find me? ;)
5. When you were 17, tell us where you pictured your life 10 years from then. Did it turn out the way you expected it to?
Well, I'm only 23 so I have some time to see how it all turns out! The main things are definitely married with children. I wanted to be married at 24, then pop out babies at 28, 30 and 32. I think it's safe to assume that timeline will be a little delayed! Also, Dom says only 2 babies. But I tell him until there's a ring on my finger he has no say in my babies ;) haha!
But did I EVER imagine I would become gluten intolerant, sparking my interest in nutrition, or *gasp* not marry my high school boyfriend, or change as much as I have? No.
Did I ever think I would fall in love with someone halfway around the world, move to Florida with him and potentially face a stint as a Navy Wife? Not in a million years. So no, it definitely has not turned out the way I expected it to, and that makes me so incredibly happy!

How precious! i am so doing this!
ReplyDeleteAnd I wanted to be a marine biologist a one point in my life, too! I always thought the ocean was so cool :)
Awesome post! I love reading these link ups! It's so fun getting to know the person behind the blog :)

HAHA! I love the part about the ring on your finger and determining your babies! You were such a pretty 17 year old and still are as beautiful as EVER! :)

I'm so glad my life didn't go as I had planned either. My first real boyfriend in high school-- I was practically already planning our wedding and picked out our kids names. HA! Soooooo glad that didn't go as planned ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a neat idea. It's crazy to look back and realize how different you can become in such a short span of time. I'm 24 and 17 seems like a lifetime ago. I had a similar situation with a "player" of my own. I wish I could smack 17 year old me and tell her I deserve better. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMy first car was a Cavalier too!!!
ReplyDeleteMy first car sounds very similar to yours. Only mine was a Dodge Neon. But it was the same color and manual everything!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!!sounds like a great 17yr odl life...not like the 17yr olds today!!
ReplyDeleteMarine biologist and dietitian..small difference ;-)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute blog. I am looking forward to reading more!

PS: You were a cute 17 year old!
I wanted to be a marine biologist too!!! So much that I almost went to a marine biology camp hahaha I was so nerdy! Can you imagine if we all ended up with our first "loves"?? Ahhh I'd be in trouble! I have the exact same future time line as you! Married at 24, kids at 28, 30 & 32! *fingers crossed* :)
ReplyDeleteThis was fun, I might give it a go, but there is no way I'll post a photo of me at 17. No way, not going to happen :)
