Friday Loves

I really can't think of anything I don't love about Friday, so I thought it would be appropriate to highlight some things I LOVED this week!

First up, my brother turns 26 on Saturday, and just posted this to Facebook.  He found it in the Syracuse paper!
I mean, as a little sister I know it was all just a bad dream...but it's nice to know Syracuse knows what's up.
Just kidding love you, Daryl.

Next, I LOVE the Crock Pot Chicken Satay (think coconut, curry, and a touch of peanut butter) I made last night! I got the recipe from Kaitlyn at Wifessionals and it was a HUGE hit! So easy. We will definitely be having it again! Recipe found here.

I LOVE nights that turn into wine, ice cream, snuggles, and Duck Dynasty. That's exactly what happened on Wednesday, and that's why there was no post yesterday. And I'm A OK with that. :)

And lastly, I'm loving the snapchats I wake up to every morning from a certain 2 sisters-to-be that have me smiling all the way to work EVERY morning!

Happy Friday, loves! :)

I Can't Believe...

I can't believe... how many of you linked up last week! I was hoping for 3, and you all absolutely blew me away! Each submission totally make my day. :)

I can't believe... My BFF Gregg actually did wear a purple paisley sparkly shirt to work.  And he took crap from the guys all day long. It was amazing. Too bad he had to leave early, and we can't have phones in the pharmacy, so I had to run outside really quickly for our picture. But you can get the idea!

I can't believe... I got hit on by some rando 55 year old at a traffic light.  It was seriously the most random event ever. I'm still not 100% sure if he was being serious or kidding.  It all started when he honked and waved really enthusiastically at me to roll my window down.  This actually happens to me a lot with people getting confused with the Turnpike, so I didn't think anything of it.  Then he asked the usual, "will this one get me to Orlando or Miami." I told him Orlando, and then got ready to roll my window up when he starts laughing yells, "Do you think I'm cute?!" Now, this was coming from a very average dad looking kind of guy, who seemed to be kidding, so I just laughed and said "Umm sure! A little old for me though ha ha ha." Then he proceeded to ask if I was married, where I was going (my answer was north), where I worked (literally just pointed and said "that way") and then told me he was only 55.  I laughed and told him sorry, but 45 was my limit (more like 25, but whatever) and rolled my window up. SO WEIRD.  I was very careful to make sure he didn't follow me off my exit!

I can't believe... PALM BEACH COUNTY CALLED ME FOR JURY DUTY THE WEEK I AM SUPPOSED TO MEET ERIN IN ORLANDO. I have only been a resident in Palm Beach county for 6 months! I'm hoping I can roll my eyes a lot and get released.  I need to take a half day and get to Orlando!! I would postpone, but with my best friend's wedding coming up this summer, I really can't risk being called then.

I can't believe... I went to get my eyebrows done on Monday and clearly was this girls first client.  Not only did she take more than 15 minutes, but she smileld wax on my face, HAIR, and sunglasses.  I was so scared.  Thankfully, me eyebrows are even and actually kind of nice looking.

I can't believe... I almost died on the Stair Master the other day.  I have always wanted to try it, but have been too scared because I kind of figured I would die.  But, we were there late afternoon Saturday, and the gym was pretty empty...so it was my chance.  I casually moseyed on over and climbed on.  I started stepping, slowly increasing my steps per minute as I made sure I wouldn't keel over and die.  Then, it happened.  I hit the level up arrow, and I must have pushed it for an extra second and it SHOT up to like 130 something steps a minute and I started literally sprinting up the steps while yelling "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Ahhhh!" for a good minute. Praise sweet baby Jesus I found the down button before I fell off.  I slowly decreased to one step per minute and gracefully dismounted and walked away forever.  If anyone asks...it totally didn't happen.
Now, grab a button and tell me what you can't believe!

So, About That 23 in 23 List...

Recently, I came to the realization that in less than two months I will officially be in my mid twenties.
At 23 I can still get away with a lot of things, but at 24? I think that's when I officially have to start acting my age (although I say that every year, so don't hold your breath).
Around the same time I had this realization, Erin came across my 23 in 23 post from last July, and asked me how it was going.
I immediately got excited because it gave me the perfect blog topic, plus I got to see everything I've accomplished at 23! Until I went back and saw that I am utterly failing...

Let's take a look together.

 23 in 23

1. Actually use my Zumba Instructor License.  Umm fail. I let that baby expire in October. Boo.

2. Take an impromptu weekend trip to Key West and clap at the sunsets. Still in the works. But we did take an impromptu trip to Naples and my heart fell in love.

 3.  Gain 10lbs. And keep it on. Okay, well I gained 8 and then lost 4. but I am much healthier in general! This will be a long term goal.

4. Get my hunky boyfriend to put a ring on it.  Hahahah. Ask me in 5 years ;)

5. Perfect the Southern girl hair tease.  Getting better! My hairdresser and I had quite the lesson in volume and she introduced me to root lifting spray. Life. Changing.

6. Become Emily Maynard. Yeah, still haven't figured that out. But she just started a blog soo maybe she's becoming me? ;)

7. Become okay with the whole Dom joining the Navy after medical school thing. Sometimes I read Hooah and Hiccups and feel better. Otherwise, I just live in my happy denial place!

8. Become a master mixologist. Eh. I can put some things together that taste good and get the job done sooo success??

9. Learn to cook well and enjoy itAlso, a work in progress!

10. Get to 500 GFC followers. Wahoo!! Love y'all :)

11. Find my bloggy niche. Yes and no. I know the feel of my blog, so I'm just focusing on that instead of fitting into a specific niche.  I think that works better for me at the moment!

12. Throw a killer bachelorette party for my best friend. Well.  The MOH decided she didn't want to buy a plane ticket down here. So the party is going to be up North.  And I get to buy my 234234th flight back up there. No, I'm not bitter.

13. Make friends in Florida.  Sorta kinda! My friends at work are becoming actual friends, and 2 of them live with their girlfriends literally one street away. I feel a party coming on...

14.  Start working out regularly. Check! Some weeks are better than others, but it's better than nothing!

15. Have Dom come home from a long day at med school to a big traditional Italian meal that actually tastes good.  Will prompt #4. Change med school to work and you've got it!

16. Join any kind of club that is really just an excuse to get together and drink with girlfriends.
This would require me to have girlfriends. Sooo no.

17. Travel to at least 1 new country. Mega check! Dom and I did 7 new countries in October! You can read all the recaps in my Travels page!

18.  Strengthen my relationship with God.  I got blessed by The Pope. That counts, right?

19.  Learn to use my DSLR and photoshop that's been on my shelf for half a year. In progress! I bought a DSLR and photoshop course online, just have to find the time to do them!

20. Start attempting to have a healthier diet.  Done and done! I'm so healthy 22 year old me wouldn't even recognize me.

21.  Get the nerve to color my hair. Okay, so it's not so much nerve as a strong lack of desire to spend $200 on something totally unnecessary.

22. Go to Disney for the first timeNext month I'll be there! Not in Disney, but at Disney. Baby steps?

23.Pick a Florida football team and become a real fan, not just someone who loves football because calories don't count when you're watching a game.  Obviously.
Yayyyy Dolphins! Now I care because of my cute jersey. Like I said...baby steps.

Let's hope my 24 in 24 list goes a little better!

You Know What They Say About Oyesters...And Big Boats.

But let's not go there, this blog is PG13. ;)
This weekend I finally got the kind of weekend everyone loves. It was full, fun, and still relaxing.
As I write this, the first summer storm is rolling in and I am completely content.
Spring has arrived to South Florida and life is good!
Back to the weekend.
Saturday started lazy in the best way possible. Aka spending the first hot day in Florida getting my bronze on by the pool.

We stayed at the pool just long enough to be starving, and headed to dinner at our usual Friday spot. On a Saturday. Gasp.

We had margaritas, oyster shooters, and a giant pot full of clams and doused with a garlic-y goodness. If that doesn't sound like heaven, I don't know what does!
Just when I thought it wasn't possible, my night got even better when Erin and I had our second skype date of the weekend, this time with our men! I am so bummed I don't have a picture, but I swear it happened, and I can't wait for the 4 of us to fall in love in person in only a few weeks!!!
Then Sunday. Oh Sunday. The Palm Beach International Boat Show.

Basically, I got a pina colada and walked around the docks getting up close and personal with some of the biggest yachts I will always want and never have.  I have such a thing for boats. I could stare, ride or even just stand on a boat all day and be happy as a clam.
Oh, and Dom bought one for me too! I picked this one :)

It's called Diamonds Are Forever and it's approx. 220ft. long.

Okay, so that's a lie. But Dom's Uncle's friend's cousin really did own it (he just sold it for a bigger one), so that totally counts, right?
No worries though, I could settle for any one of these!

After we started to feel really poor and landlocked, we headed to the beach to solidify our bronze glow, I made dinner for once (paella!) and then it was time to relax on the couch to a thunder storm and Revenge. Like I said, happy as a clam.
Smothered in garlic.

Dear YOU

It's been a few weeks since I did a Friday Letters post, and I have to admit, I missed them! So here goes.

Dear YOU. My amazing readers: Thank you so much for giving me an amazing week.  First, thank you from the bottom of my heart for linking up with me on Wednesday! I was literally hoping for 3 people, and having 28 amazing women link up blew my mind! I am so excited for this new bloggy adventure! I'm still getting around to reading everyone's post, but I will soon!  Then, y'all blew my mind again yesterday with your support for Dom's project.  We are both so thankful for everyone who went and "liked" the video, and people tweeting out the link made our day. You guys rock my socks off over and over again!

Dear Pinterest: I hadn't been on you in awhile, and last night you flooded me with inspiration again! I'll take you, you, and you. Please and thank you.
Dear my 57 yr old best friend/coworker/warehouse manager Gregg aka Sunshine: I am wearing my bright pink Lilly dress today.  If I look like a peep and you show up wearing anything but the pink sparkly shirt you pinky swore you owned today, our friendship is officially over!

Dear Target goodies: I am so glad you jumped in my cart all by yourselves! If you could figure out how to pay for yourself next time, I'd really appreciate it.

Dear March Madness: I'm so happy you're here!! GO 'CUSE.  Even though I have you out by the Elite 8, I'd really like it if you surprised me! And Marquette, you better get it together, I have you in my Final 4. Thank youuuu.

Dear Friday: I see you, baby.

A HUGE Favor!

For Dom, blogging usually means a lot of time for me in front of the computer, a lot of random recipes I want to try, and an extreme desire to play with a baby. Now.
Finally, he realized it's also a great way to reach a lot of people.
So today, we're going to be upfront and beg for your help.

You all know I love this guy for his delicious cooking, attempts to kill me, and Party Nana.
(He's kind of good looking too ;))

Well, I also love him because he's a closeted super smart nerd. And my mama taught me nerds make the best husbands. (Boyfriends too, Dom, don't freak out).

I mentioned a few weeks ago that Dom's Biomedical Engineering senior project was to design an adaptive bike for people who only have use of one arm/side of their body, particularly veterans and stroke victims.

You can see the details of it in this video!

Well whatdoyaknow his project is a finalist on the da Vinci Awards for Accessibility and Universal Design!

"The annual International da Vinci Awards® recognizes the most innovative adaptive and assistive technologies that enable equal access and opportunity for all people, regardless of ability. "

They are choosing the winner based on likes to their youtube videos, so if you have a moment to spare I would LOVE it if you would head to THIS LINK  and "like" their video!

Winning this kind of contest not only raises awareness to their product, but will make it easier for them to mass produce the bikes and start changing the lives of people who though they could never ride again.

If that's not motivation enough, I may or may not have a video of Party Nana dancing to a little reggaeton music that I justttt might share with you as a thank you! :)

THANK YOU!

I Can't Believe... {Link Up!}

I can't believe... I finally got the nerve to make this a link up! My goal for Week 1 is 3 people. Let's see if I can beat it!

I can't believe... Dom put up notes on our mirror late Sunday night for me to wake up to on Monday!  I was not feeling my alarm after a late night, and a few little love notes put me right into a great mood.  Don't mind my lack of make up. :)
There was a piece of chocolate at the end of the trail too!

I can't believe... I might see Erin in a month! I really can't talk about it yet, because I get so excited I literally cannot function!

I can't believe... Dom finally got a big boy job! He'll be working at a gene therapy lab doing top secret government research.  You can just call him James Bond from now on. ;)

I can't believe.. how badly I want this cannoli Dom's cousin had last night. My mouth is still watering.

Announcement!!

Heyo!

As you've probably gathered, Dom's family (parents, cousin and of course Party Nana) are down in the sunshine state visiting until Wednesday.  Between work, playing asshole, and cocktails, there has been zero time to sit down and blog...sometimes I don't even glance at my phone until the end of the day!

So, I want to quickly apologize to anyone who I haven't emailed back (since last week...). I will get to them all by the end of the week (this makes me sound like I'm important. Guarantee 80% of people don't even realize I haven't emailed them back...but we can all pretend)! Promise.

Now to the announcement.  I've been toying with the idea for awhile, but I finally decided to make my Wednesday, "I Can't Believe" series into a link up! You can do a post like I do, just write a post about something that happened that you can't believe, or even add some to the end of a regular post! I'm not picky. :)

Start thinking about what you cannot believe (like how long Monday nights are without The Bachelor) and link up with me on Wednesday!

It All Started When Party Nana Got Drunk.

I should have known something was up when I got home from work on Friday to a completely empty house.
A few minutes later, Party Nana's car pulls up and everyone gets out...but Party Nana is nowhere to be found.
Then...Dom and his dad walk in, silent and grinning.
"Nana is smashed."
Turns out, they went to the rum bar, and Nana indulged in a few too many tequila shots.

 {Party Nana sniffing a basil leaf to make the hangover go away...}

And thus, our weekend began!

Once Party Nana was upright again, we headed downtown to our favorite seafood restaurant for a little live music, great food, and to see SU close out the Georgetown rivalry! I may be still palpitating from the end of that game!
 {Casually creeping}

Saturday morning Dom's younger cousin arrived for her spring break and we headed to the beach! It was a little chilly for the beach, but it's never too cold for cocktails by the water. :)

 {Not a bad spot to watch a little March Madness}
 {Yes, that does say sharks in the area!}

Ahh, then Sunday came around...

5 words. St. Patrick's Day and Asshole. ;)

Happy Monday, friends. :)
